My mother in-law, whom I love dearly, is a garlic nut, at least I think she is because she adds so much to her salsa. It's just got to mean she loves it, right? On Sunday I was making dinner for all of us and after making dinner rolls I had about a loafs worth of dough left over. I decided to make one of those recipes that kind of noodles around in the back of your head, this one was Savory Monkey Bread. As I was adding the garlic I kept thinking "boy, Pris is going to love this!" And she did and we all did. I had to share this fantastic "recipe" if you can call it that.
Savory Monkey Bread---oven 350˚
bread dough for one loaf of bread OR 12 frozen dinner rolls **can double** **SHOULD DOUBLE**
various toppings including
poppy seeds
chopped garlic
Celtic Sea Salt
Mozzarella cheese
fresh pepper
**use other toppings as you see fit** like it spicy? add pepper flakes or try sunflower seeds or chopped peanuts anything would be great
generously grease a loaf pan 8 or 9 inch will do
tear the bread/roll dough into gumball size pieces
layer them in the pan
when you have a full layer in the bottom of the pan
sprinkle on your choice of toppings
I made a generous layer of poppy seeds
a couple of spoon fulls of pre minced garlic scattered on next
sprinkle of cheese and a dash of pepper
repeat layers until the dough is used up
sprinkle on a bit of Celtic Sea Salt as a finisher
bake in 350˚ for about 25 minutes or so
just don't let the cheese burn
Overall this was a HUGE hit. People love the pull apart bread. Worried hands aren't clean? Use a wooden spoon to tear into the loaf and a fork to spear up a piece. The only drawback to this loaf of bread? I only made one, booooo hisssss. Somehow we decided this would be called South American Monkey Puzzle Tree Bread, I like savory monkey bread better, less words=more time to eat.
I shared this with Dinner at Christina's collection Friday Firsts, check her out to see who else is doing what for the first time. FUN!

Oh and here is the first photo of the vegetable feta pie I made for Just Another Meatless Monday. It was so good, I'm sure we'll be eating it again soon.
Peace and Love--

The bread looks wonderful, what a great idea. I'm surprised you cooked it at 350.

You're vegetable feta pie looks fantastic! The recipe looked good before (and I'm determined to try the crust at least!) but the photo just made it for me! Seriously, I'm wiping the drool from my keyboard... :D
