Juice Juice baby, Juice Juice baby

My official opinion on owning a juicer? LOVE IT. I paid 6 dollars for an obviously never used Juice Tiger, grrrrr Jack LaLane's brand, juicer. What a BARGAIN!

It sat here for a few days before I was brave enough to wash it out and start juicing. And for those days I was actually thinking 'why the bleep did I buy this thing?' but then after the first use I know why I bought it. You know how a LOT of my meals are guided by what needs to be used RIGHT NOW? Well my only option for fruit that needed to be used RIGHT NOW was a dessert or smoothie. Now we have another option, juice.

I had a couple peaches that teetering on the edge and some berries that were close too so we started there and added an apple, an orange and celery. That was our first trial run and it was all over after that. We got all our fruits and veggies from Wolf Lake Wellness on Wednesday and they were ready to juice two weeks worth of food in one day.

The Juice Tiger, grrrrr, is pretty self explanatory; put fruit in the hole, juice goes in one cup, pulp in the other. It does have a tendency to splash out of the hole a bit but putting in the plunger(ahem) works wonders. The juice comes out pretty quick although I have learned to let it spin a bit before shutting it down to make the juice is completely out. The pulp is almost dry, my chickens LOVE IT, if I were to do a vegetable juice I think I could add the pulp to a soup. What do you think? Yeah or Nay?

So all in all I would say that my little thrifted treasure is indeed a treasure. I do like to juice. My kids like the juice. I can afford to juice. I thought at first I would see if we liked it thinking we would 'buy a real' juicer, but this is a real juicer and we love it. Thanks to whoever got this and decided to donate it rather than through it out, thank you very much. We are now having the summer of juice! Oh and popsicles too.

I have done some research and found that a model of the juice tiger was recalled but not this one! WHEW!! I was glad to flip mine over and read made in France which were not recalled.

I have seen recipes that use the pulp in bread dough but I don't have one readily available to give you.

My mom got my dad one a few years ago at a flea market in FL and they LOVE IT. They also use it all the time for veggies that need to be used RIGHT NOW since they're big fans of gardening and the clearance veggie section.

I've heard the pulp is good for muffin baking, but have no experience to offer!

thanks for sharing w/ Friday Firsts!

We haven't used our juicer in a while, but we always love the results. When the kids were young, they called it noisy juice.

I love my juicer and it has become my most often used gadget every since I bought it. good to see you are enjoying yours and that is awesome that you found it for $6.

now...what is the backstory to that mug? glass bake? fire king? pyrex??

I'd like to find a juicer for around the same price as yours. I've always wanted one but they are so expensive. I'm glad that you and your family are enjoying it! I definitely add the veggie pulp to a soup or stew. :)
Have a wonderful week.
Fondly,
Ann
