Heya! It's Thursday, make and do Thursday! I wanted to share with you what our chickens are 'doing'. OK, one in particular:

We call her Broody. We love Broody, she's kinda nutty but she fits right around this place! Every chance she gets she commandeers the laying box, claiming every egg as 'HERS'. When you reach in to collect eggs, she triples in size and really lets you have a swift peck or 3. And she growls. If a chicken can growl she does anyway, kind of a high pitched groan accompanied with every feather standing on end and a peck. PECK!

She takes over the nest to brood eggs. Now that we have viable(?) rooster we have decided to let her get 'broody' and try to hatch some eggs. She's been at it a week. She has 6 eggs to hatch, all marked with an X so we don't collect them. Will she hatch them? Who knows, but at least she is getting to do her thing, which seems to be very important to her. Finally. Poor thing, imagine spending two years gathering every egg you can only to have them taken from you every day.

That's whats going on around here, letting nature take it's course. A few more things that caught my eye this week:

Letting kids sew. I love this post and the photos. Actually I really love this blogger too. Her devotion to her kids is simply beautiful.

Making something lighter. Christina found a lighter scone recipe that is fantastic! I know I need to use some currants up so here we go!
