Frankoma #81, I really love this!
I love the shape of this old planter.
Made by the Mercury Bros.? Never heard of them but I love the signature.
I have a thing for office supplies. Old ones especially, look at the lines on this pencil sharpener. Really they just don't make them like they used too.
And of course I snatched up these mailing envelopes, I love to send off books in these. And for 10 cents a piece, they were a bargain.
I think I'm rubbing off on my husband. He needed a circular saw for a project. Does every new 'project' need a new tool? (YES!) So off they went to made in China crap land, oh I mean Lowes, all the saws in our price range were plastic and made in China. After mulling it over he went to a pawn shop and found a beautiful old circular saw, all metal and tough stuff, made in America for 60 dollars. Much less than the cheap breakable junk saws at Lowes and so much more durable. It works perfectly and the 'project' is coming along nicely.

That planter is really really cool! I like office supplies too. :) I'm visiting from Rhoda's Thrifty Treasures party. :)
Yeeks, I remember using those old pencil sharpeners, in fact I think we had one at home when I was a kid!!! Love the story about the tools and I am a true believer in our "older" technology...ever tried a new battery run tool...the batteries go in no time and you're left with a hunk of junk to dispose of!!!
Love your finds! We have gone through I don't know how many "new" pencil sharpeners only to be so happy to find an old one that actual sharpens pencils-crazy!

Fabulous finds! How fun that your hubby went to the Pawn Shop....now that might be interesting. Hmmmmm......

You know I just never think much about pawn shops but you are completely right. What a perfect place to look for tools. Maybe I should send dh there next time he needs something. I think your pitcher is just lovely.
I have never been to a pawn shop. They always seemed kind of seedy and back alley. After watching Pawn Stars I might even make a trip to a big city in search of a good pawn shop.
I wonder if some Habitat stores would also sell tools.
I live with a thrift hound. We could open a museum with all the old tools he finds. Most of them are still fully functional and he says the quality is just so much better. He also introduced me to pawn shops. I used to have such an aversion but now I go right in. Great finds on all your stuff. I love the pitcher.
I want one of those pencil sharpeners!! It looks very sturdy and substantial. I hate those electric ones they have nowdays that eat your pencils.
I've recently started collecting FRANKOMA pottery & love your vase! Great find for sure.
Great finds! I love the pitcher and the sharpener is so handy... don't have to worry about batteries.
