I was only gone 4 days, I promise! But I came home to an absolute mess, an executive decision was made to hang new drywall in our living room and bedroom. On the ceiling. While I was gone. (insert insane maniacal laughter here) Which apparently required that anything and everything in those rooms be thrown into laundry baskets and stacked everywhere else. Ahem. I've not actually stopped moving since I got home, except to sleep. I'm not sure I have ever seen my house look worse. It was great opportunity to dig in and get rid of junk, I just didn't want to do it immediately upon arrival home.
I decided I best announce the winner of the Panko and cookbook giveaway from last week. The winner is:

Yeah Heather! Awesome for you! Send me your address my friend.
And my latest giveaway, I'm giving away some swag! It's my personal believe that BlogHer Food beat the pants off of FoodBuzz in the swag department but I'm still sharing it with one lucky winner. Leave a comment telling me if you have ever been to conference and how you like it. You can have one extra entry if you leave me a real compliment completely different than anybody else. Good luck! This giveaway ends randomly so enter quickly.
Peace and love--

Stayed at the hotel while my husband went to a geek convention or two (Microsoft)...he loves the swag, as do the kids. I'm much too un-important to have ever been to any.
Many types of conferences, never a food conference. I like getting to see people I only get to see once a year- at conferences ! lol
Compliment-
I read your blog every morning at work because it makes me feel like I'm having a conversation with a real person, rather than talking to all of the whiney people I work with.
I've been to conferences where the talk was informative but the food was lacking. I understand - it costs money to rent, instruct, AND feed people. But I yearn for the conferences that my mom gets to go to, particularly the one in Puerto Rico where she got bottles of rum in her swag bag. And this was a Marine Biology conference!!!
I haven't been to a conference for me in years & I think that going to one I want to attend would be much better than a work one. Went in to the city for Dan's last week, the hotel was sad and noisy and needs a facelift and renewed sense of purpose with food since the main restaurant closed. I'm really tempted to go to the greenie conference next year...except I think that flying outside isn't very carbon neutral.
I've never been to a conference! (sob)
My compliment to you dear Laura is that I love you! You are so real and the type of mother I aspire to be one day. You remind me of my own mom and the way I was raised. I think your boys are the cutest things ever and J and I still giggle about the "he looks so real" compliment on our Xmas card last year. Also, I know this is odd, but I feel a tremendous bond w/ you b/c we both have unruly crazy curly hair.
I haven't ever been to a blog conference, but I'd like to someday. They always sound like so much fun :) *Thanks* for the giveaway!

I will be at an academic conference this weekend. No swag and I am guessing not much food. I wish I could have been at Foodbuzz but alas I am a workaholic. I loved IFBC and BlogHer Food and hopefully will have those weekends free again next year!
Laura, you are a riot. Hope you had an amazing time in San Francisco and some day I will make it up to your neck of the woods!
