We get our milk from a local farmer and that periodically involves me making the milk run. I usually enjoy the hour drive each way, it gives me time to reflect in quiet solitude the progress of my life and this land that I love. I leave my youngest son with my mom and head off for a journey to the middle off nowhere. It's quite a feeling to watch modern life recede and find myself in what feels truly desolate, only to come upon houses, farms and power lines again.
