I'm a HUGE proponent of bringing food with you, it was a great way to get through a year of NOT eating out. Grab your lunch box, bento box or cooler and go. But that habit of packing food has been with me for quite a while, my oldest son in going to be 18 in a month and I discovered early on a great way to avoid the cranky kid syndrome was to have food available after sports or shopping or whatever. I always had snacks with us and after he was diagnosed a type 1 diabetic it was EVEN more important to support his blood sugar with good food.
You know when kids are truly hungry they'll eat just about anything. This is a great way to work fruits and veggies into their repertoire and yours. Yes adults will eat just about anything too, if it's the ONLY thing available. HINT HINT. Carry good food to avoid bad food, for you and your kids.
One great way to save money and eat healthier is to pack a lunch. If you spend 10 bucks a day to go for lunch just 3 times a week it adds up. To a WHOPPING 1500 dollars a year! That's enough for two tickets to Hawaii or, ahem, to Alaska to come and see me. What if you ate lunch out everyday? 2600 dollars. And just for kicks what if lunch costs more twice a week, like oh say 15 dollars a day and 10 dollars the other 3 days? 3,120 dollars. Well then eating leftovers might be worth it?

I pack every. blessed. school. day. But if I got super lucky, this would likely become V's since she didn't get a cute little tiffin and carrier for Christmas.

Blogged you too. I have no twitter.
Oh I love this thing! My hubs will be taking his lunch daily upon returning to the states. Quite a change for him but that's how it rolls with penny pinching!
And you are blogrolled. :)
I've always packed lunch since I joined the career force 14 years ago.

I do about half and half. When I pack lunch for my husband, its usually left overs. For me, its some kind of un nutritous frozen boxed meal from weigh watchers or lean cuisine. I totaly love this mr. Bento set!
Love this! Just this morning as I was packing my lunch, I was scrambling to find some tupperware to put it all in! This would work great for me. I take my lunch to work 4 days a week, and then on Fridays always treat myself and go out to eat with co-workers...it keeps me sane:)
Of course you are on my blogroll:)
I pack my lunch every day. The only exceptions are a few times a school year when all of us teachers order lunch during professional development.
I took a lunch most days when I taught school. I'm retired now, but still go places with food. Thanks for all of your great posts.
I'm a SAHM but we are always packing food for trips to town or visits with friends and family.
