He's been putting us through the wringer lately. Grouchy, jobless, failing school and a few other problems I'm not going to mention here have made life hell when he is here. He's 18 now with an attitude and we've had to lay down the law. Tough love sucks.
I'm distracted and sick. And apparently whiny. I think I'll go to bed and see how life feels in the morning.
Peace and Love--

Sleep does wonders for a person. Hang in there. I don't feel your pain yet, but we're getting there with our oldest.
Sleep. Tea. Repeat. You are required to be healthy Wednesday morning so we can go out and talk about our crazy teenagers.
My heart goes out to you Laura. Being the parent of an "adult" (who really isn't an adult yet) is NOT an easy task. Refocus my dear, to save your sanity (I speak from experience).
We do feel every pain our children go thru as if it is our own don't we?
You're right tough love sucks, but it's love- hang in and feel better.
Love and hugs. Hang in there.
Sending hugs. Remember to breathe. Some days are hour by hour but you will get through.
I had one of those teenagers who could find no good in the world. Half way through high school I pulled him out and moved him 2 hours away to live with his grandparents. Talk about tough love. (He was joining a bad group.)
He is an adult now and has good times and bad. Presently we are in a bad cycle. I worry tons but am learning that I have to take care of myself or I am no good for him.
Remember your values, live in ways that honor them and be an example to your son. And remind him that all choices and behaviors have consequences.
Hang in there, mama. I, too, was a grouchy attitudal teenager going through depression, anxiety, and other medical issues. I put my parents through hell and back. But in the end I snapped out of it and I now realize how awesome they were for the tough love!
{Hugs}
Hi Laura, so sorry you are going through a rough patch with your teen. Hang in there, hope you all feel better soon!!!
Thinking of you and wishing your family the best!
Laura, keep at it, even when you feel like quitting. I have a friend who did quit on her daughter for a while and she ended up in Juve and then jail and killed herself 3 times on heroin. She is now in another state, with different friends and a renewed relationship with her mother, but I thin had her mother been a bit more in the way of tough love, most of this could have been avoided. Sending you a huge momma hug! Alex
