First off I'd like to let you all know I drew a new winner of the Moosewood Cookbook, the original winner never contacted me so I decided to pick a new one. The new winner is the creator of Parsimonia with her fabulous Pecan Mushroom Burgers. Drop me an email and I'll send your new cook book off to Mollie Katzen to get it signed and set on to you!
It was a busy week this week, I signed up to be a substitute teacher with our school district. I'm really only interested in helping our Waldorf Charter School keep their daily rhythms intact, I'm excited and scared at the prospect of being in charge of 20 little souls. This is definitely a new and interesting turn in my life.
We've been slowly chugging our way through all the food we put by last year, I still have a LOT of green tomato relish to use up, if you are local and want a quart jar let me know. Especially if you want to trade something, that would be AWESOME. Anyway we have been working on whittling down our canned goods, we have eaten all the raspberry jam, blueberry jam, and pie filling. We have a bit of salmon left in the freezer, I used the last of the fruit I froze last summer to make a peach crisp and we are out of rhubarb. I did find all the pork belly that I haven't made into bacon yet, as soon as I can fire up the smoker it's days are numbered. Pantry reduction is going well I guess and I'll be ready to refill them this summer.
I have two itty bitty treasures to share because the other things I found are for someone who professes to read my blog, hi Jack! Seriously don't yell hi to him in the airport...ahahaha I'm funny! So two little treasures I found last week but didn't include them because I had so many other things to share. Look at this little pattypan, it's only about 2 inches wide and tall, so cute!
And this little vintage santa cup!
So how did you spend a thrifty week? Please feel free to share any thrifty living posts from pantry living etsy stores, to ebay listings, hyena cart stores, thrifting finds, crating, poetry, upcycling, budgeting, meal planning or anything else you may do to survive and thrive in the world today.
Peace and Love--

I am also over-run by relish. I made a ton and we don't eat it! Maybe we should trade relishes? I have zucchini pickle and "dixie" relish. What do you use the tomato relish for, specifically? I'm trying to figure out where to use ours besides hot dogs that we hardly ever eat.
If I wasn't far away in London I'd be able to swap you some plum jelly for your relish - we picked a ton of wild cherry plums last summer and although we're getting through it there's plenty left. So good with roast meats and stirred into sauces. I also made plum vodka which was such a big success that we've drunk it all but for about an inch! Definitely making more of that this year for Christmas presents.
Very cute heart baking tin, by the way.
Your small metal heart pan brings back memories of playing in our kitchen. Mom would let us use those for playdough and rice krispie treats. (not mixed together)
Cute little pan! Your pictures look delicious! Lana www.lifeatwildberrycottage.com
