Words For Thought

I saw this saying on a bumper sticker today, it took my breath away with it's simple message. I actually really like it and will put it on my truck when I find it for sale.

When all the trees have been cut down,

when all the animals have been hunted,
when all the waters are polluted,
when all the air is unsafe to breathe,
only then will you discover you cannot eat money.

Is it a real Cree saying? I don't know. In my research, which is not exhaustive because I get off topic and forget where I was going, I found no conclusive evidence of origin. Does it matter? Probably not because it doesn't really matter who said it first, it still holds true.

And to read it still takes away my breath.
