I love a good storm and this one is off to a pretty good start. It's the kind of day where the kids aren't allowed to go outside for recess, the wind chill factor is too low or the kids will blow away, one or the other.
My kids are offended at the adult sensibilities of not letting children blow away and demanded to play outside as soon as they got home from school. Now lets recap the storm, 15˚ outside, the wind is gusting to 75 mph and steady at 50 mph and it's November 23rd, I voted to stay in and make cocoa. So I bundled them up and sent them off. Snow pants, gloves, coats, bogs, scarves, hats and goggles.
Yes goggles. Because the snow was making his eyes water.
There's only one way to warm up on a day like this, a nice hot cup of something, be it broth, tea or cocoa.
And a sit in the setting sun, at 4 pm. I was restless with the kids being outside,
I was wandering around with my camera. I caught the sunset through my Martinmas Lantern.
And marveled at the fantastic copper chain my husband made for it.
I found the dog, who was completely unimpressed with the wind staring morosely out the window.
I caught the yard scoured almost clear of snow.
The boys didn't come in until about 5 pm, a full hour and a half of playing outside in the crazy wild wind. The best part is they fell sound asleep by 7:45 tonight, kind of hard not to after that much fresh oxygen is inhaled. Blow on winter storm, blow on.
Peace and Love--
