Decorating your own wreath is so easy and completely affordable when you dig through your thrifted treasures to find just the right touch.
Start with a good size wreath, they are out there I saw at least 20 of them at the thrift store JUST today. This is a wreath I've had for several years and I like it a lot, it's big and full and takes up a fair amount of room on the door. We don't want no stinkin' puny wreath!
Now go hit up your craft box, closet, room or thrift store for some cool forest stuff. You could use some birds, flowers, mini mushrooms, assorted berries, foliage or even vintage ornaments. While your at it grab some twist ties to fasten everything on. A glue gun works fine too but is more permanent than I want to get, but it may work for you.
So you have your big wreath and you have some baublesand you have a way to connect them all together. Put on some Christmas music and get to work.
Lay out the wreath and start adding goodies. I add the mushrooms first and I took off the ribbon because it just looked wrong.
I realized I should add the red berry wreath too but the berries were kinda chipped up.
So I grabbed a red permanent marker and colored in the chipped spots. Looks better hunh?

I love the way it fills in the center of the wreath and makes it pop right out.
Then I lost a pine cone to the mastiff who deemed it good eats, no worries I used a smaller one in it's place and it looks fine.
To attach my forest goodies I just twisted a twist tie around, up and under the pieces and onto the wreath.
I opted for no bow because I don't tie them well and I like the way it looks with out just fine.
Here it is hanging on the door, seeing it now I can see a few places that need adjusting, an easy fix.
Ack look out the chickens are trying to get in!
My total cost for this project, out of pocket was zero dollars. I owned everything already, I simply put them all together. The wreath was 2 dollars 3-4 years ago, the mushrooms were 50¢ and the red berries were 1 dollar a few years ago, the twist ties were in my bread drawer.
Merry DIY THRIFTED Christmas and beware my chickens!

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea, your wreath looks beautiful. I'll bet I have all the stuff to do this already, I just never thought of it, it is brilliant.
Your wreath is so pretty! As always I love how you describe things, I feel like we're in the same room chatting together. But chickens in the snow? Do I need to knit them slippers?
hmmm.... I may have to go thrifting this weekend! Love, love, love the wreath!
That is one gorgeous wreath! Thanks for the great ideas!
