Our winter morning started off early and in the dark, of course the sun doesn't even come up from behind the mountain until noon, the kids wrote letters to Santa while we enjoyed coffee. Today was our town's Christmas celebration called Colony Christmas, we planned to go see Santa, play in the ice garden and look at gingerbread houses. We looked for the snow machine rides but they weren't running. You know what was running? The wind, it was a brisk 24˚ outside and the wind was about 20-30 miles an hour. Wooh.
Knowing I wouldn't be home until after dark, 4 pm, I jumped into high gear to get my photos taken during real daylight hours. Our 6 year old took the opportunity to make a glider for his gnome priest. Damn thing really flew.
I got a shot of these
which cost a quarter
which are destined for the bathroom counter.
My son, the 6 year old again, fell in love with this shirt, for a 1.50 it came home with us. Who am I to argue about a 6 year old in a dress shirt?
I picked up two Christmas books I didn't have yet.
I can't wait to read this one, I love Tomie DePaola's illustrations.
I found three more Santa mugs who will soon join their brethren
on the bathroom window sill
Yesterdays post featured a DIY Thrifted Forest Wreath, if you don't have a wreath yet, this may inspire you to pass on the spendy wreath and go thrifted.
Don't forget any links on The Penny Worthy Project earn you an EXTRA entry to win the KitchenAId Stand Mixer.

I am STILL so in love with your bathroom windows!! I'm linking to a budget recipe I first posted last spring for mock pecan pie. My big family loves pecan pie, but its not in my budget, this mock pie is a pretty good substitute.
Right now this is what inspires me http://familycrafts.about.com/od/makeapinata/a/papermachepinata.htm
I am not a crafty/creative person at all. Before my hubby left I asked him if he could nail holes in the wall so I know where to hang the new family photos up lol. For the year he is gone he will miss all the holidays and more importantly all the kids birthdays. He wants me to get a pinata for each child for the upcoming double birthday celebration but I can't see myself spending $36 for something that will be destroyed in a matter of minutes =). I decided to try and make a paper mache pinata and found the website to give me a basis on what to do. If he was here I could help him but because he is not I will prove to myself that I can be crafty if I try really hard =)
Hope I come across a Santa mug some day soon..... Nice finds...
Thank you for hosting. Can't wait to see what you do with the rainbow shape thing! I'd love for you and your readers to come join my thrifty link up each friday.
I LOVE the photo of the blue light and snow coming through the window. We never see sights like that in Florida. Beautiful photos and finds as always!
