First start with a GIANT empty space
Then I roamed around the yard and grabbed a BUNCH of birch branches that blew out of the trees--we just had a huge windstorm last week so we had a lot.
I took them downstairs and dug out some white spray paint and gave them a quick once over. Now they do have some brown bits left but overall they are white.
I dug up a huge old vase and poured in some marbles to hold it down, my cats like to eat arrangements, there is a reason the kitten is called Thunder. Use any vase or vessel you want to use, get creative!
Then I got down to the fun part, making it look good, which actually turned out to be hard because the picks were being a pain and I didn't want to break them apart. Eventually we came to the understanding that they would do what I want and I would put them where they go nicely.
Add your painted branches.
A few minor tweaks and a bluebird ornament from the tree and voila!
A beautiful arrangement to fill that huge space. I really love the way this looks.
Total cost for me was 50¢, everything else I already had. If you had to buy everything from a thrift store I'd bet it would cost around 5 dollars total, but the real fun is spending less than that and using things you already own, creatively.
Peace and love--
