This week we drove our oldest son to Seward to start his plumbing and heating training, yes my 18 year old son, this one
wants to be a plumber. I couldn't be happier or more proud, my dad was a plumber too and we even managed to dig up some of his old tools for my son to use in school. Of course this meant driving through Anchorage on the way to Seward and a stop at my favorite thrift store. WOOT!
I found this big, old(?) french canning jar. Perfect for all kinds of pantry storage or pickle making even. LOVE!
and another piece of McCoy pottery.
I couldn't believe it when I saw it on the half price table, which meant it had been there for more than a month without selling. It's in pristine condition but I don't need it, so I'll probably sell it, at some point, after I enjoy it, I guess.
Earlier this week I made a jar of homemade air freshener, I'll be making more soon. I really like the way it absorbs odors AND gently smells good. Easy to find household ingredients make it a simple project to make.
Plus I'm still enjoying my decision to get a produce box from Full Circle. For the price of regular vegetables and fruit at the grocery store I get a fresh box full of organic fruit and veggies. This week laying it out to take a picture inspired me to make my meal plan, it's here if you want to see it. I like the fact that every week I can customize my box, we were due for more celery this week and I think I exchanged that for green peppers. It's nice if you're not eating all of something they sent you, you can pick something different.
I also like that we're eating 100% organic for all our fruits and veggies, meat too. We get our organic pantry staples for great prices through Azure Standard. I highly recommend them for excellent prices on natural and organic products.
What about you? What's making you tick this week?
Peace and Love--

While I am very happy with my son's computer skills, I would be equally (OK, maybe even happier) if he was trained and licensed in HVAC or plumbing trades. No matter what anyone tells us there is job security or rather income security in knowing those trades, I believe it also offers a great deal of personal satisfaction to work with your hands. So - brain plus hands!
Congratulations.
(He's also good looking. If I was younger...)
Very nice finds for you as well.
I am staying close to home and doing my best to stick to a budget. This weeks post is about giving into temptation but for less than the cost of a dinner out!
Congratulations on your son's choice of professions! I know you are proud. He will have a skill that is always in demand and that is a wonderful thing in this life. It's just icing on the cake that his grandfather was also a plumber!
What a handsome young man your son is. Congrats to him on moving forward on his chosen profession. So exciting to see young people growing and becoming self sufficient.
Ah, I'd love to know what you used to make the homemade air freshener. And I love the McCoy pottery!
I too would like to know how to make air freshener. Good luck to your son on his career.
